Still...... - January 21, 2010

...the rain is coming down! Los Angeles and San Bernadino Counties are really under the weather !! Snow at 3000 feet and floods down in the basin. Still the Gods aligned and we had a totally dry ride to Hermosa Beachand back last night! It was really fun and it was really wonderful to hear Jodi Seigel and Alfred Johnson jam together and trade songs.

There are a lot more storms coming and it is going to get dangerous up at the snow levels because the next storm on the 24th is going to have a lot of warm air.

For the week of the 24th, we will be hit with a powerful and WARM series of storms, as strong as any we've seen. This heavy warm rainfall will fall onto the newly laid snowpack and what will be totally saturated ground, especially in the burn areas of LA and will produce tremendous melting and runoff, and the potential for record flooding.

Due to the low altitude of the jet stream, 200+ mph winds will slam directly into the Sierras, producing tornado strength winds over a 200 mile wide front. DON'T head to Mammoth for skiing when you hear about the huge snow fall in the first week. A friend of Scott's is a Navy weather forecaster and he told Scott that the military is moving assets east out of the way ahead of this storm. Planes and helicopters are migrating out of the coastal bases and into the interior bases of Arizona and Nevada. They're taking this very seriously.

This may sound alarmist, but websites I check related to weather modeling are using the word "Biblical" for this system.

If you can work from home or commute by train, please plan on doing so. The LA freeway system is going to be a mess for the next week or two.

Take care out there people!!!!
Love,
Lauren

Rainy Days...... - January 19, 2010

.....Rain all day.....

Hello everyone. I am at home in L.A. during a huge Pacific Rain Storm. What fun! It doesn't rain here in the"deserty" terrain of Los Angeles so when it does it is most welcome. A little thunder and lightening helps to set the mood. Yep, the mood to write songs! I am in writing mode today and hope to come up with some good stuff for ya'll. I am also hoping that the people here in the burn areas are faring well and that the mudslides are not harming them.

Not touring much lately but still have my gigs in L.A. and love playing with my band here at home. I hope your new year has started off well.

Please remember to help the people of Haiti if you can. They are in horrible distress and need help. We are not on this earth to judge, to isolate or to blame anyone for such a horrible disaster. Please look into your heart and donate through the Red Cross or another reputable agency. With your help and resources, the people of Haiti can be saved to rebuild their lives and homes.

I hope to see you at a show or on the web next month at Kulak's! We are going to have a regular FOLKFEST on teh 26th! www.kulakswoodshed.com
All the Best,
Lauren

Well, sorry I haven't been blogging lately. I've just been so busy! I had a lot of local shows last week and they were all really fun. I have to say though that the most fun was playing at the Braille Institute in L.A. on Monday! What a great crowd! they love to dance and song along, ask questions about the instrumentation, all the teachers come in and eat their lunch during the show. It's sooo fun!

I'm looking forward to a little time off from live shows after this Saturday night at Cafe Muse, until October...maybe some writing in store?

BTW - If you have never been to a House Concert...I highly recommend it! It's great for the fans, great for the artist and great for the universe! Here's a video for you to watch and see how it's done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC-9Xbn5Smo I have one coming up in October in Newbury Park, CA and can't wait! it's always so intimate and fun! Good Morning! - August 19, 2009

I had a bad night last night. I am having trouble sleeping. Went to the doctor. She was basically useless;) Anyway, I am up and having coffee and ready for my day and evening. The thing is......I woke up and immediately started in on the computer, I have now been here an hour! That is not cool. I'm only writing this to purge myself of the guilt of being addicted to facebook and email....I MUST CHANGE!! So my friends, I will be monitoring my computer usage, meditating more and creating more so that my life is not wasted in "The Internets!"

I will continue to write to you though....you....hmmmm....nobody's really reading this. Alas, the self obsession of being me has kicked in once again.

Have a lovely day...I love you!

Myspace Is Dying! - August 17, 2009

OK...so, Yes, I use Myspace. Well, sort of. I have been a member since March 3rd 2005 but that was when FANS came around to hear your music and pass your stuff on to other fans who might enjoy it too. No more...all I ever get is "Hey You. Add my band. We're playing a show in Dry Itch, AZ on Feb 3 2012. People are not playing my songs...maybe 20 or so a day from 100 + a day, it's just about amassing a ton of "friends" to impress....someone...I don't know who. I guess some of these bands actually think they may get a deal or something.....dunno......not fun anymore.....don't care. Most musicians I know have facebook oages and are able to control who becomes a "friend" and not just a mass mailing bot!

I don't want to be negative but I guess this may be just that. Negative-Myspace....backwards....bizzaro world. Hey...maybe there will be a NEW social networking site soon and we can start all over. Look...if Tom Delaty can go on Dancing WIth the Stars...anything can happen!!!

Talk soon.

The Ballad of June Bug Lee Released as a free download! - August 14, 2009

Hello everyone. Last night we debuted a live version of The Ballad of June Big Lee at Mark "Pocket" Goldberg's Songwriter Showcase with a fantastic reception. I'm very proud of our wok on this song. It was a dream...a dream that wouldn't let go of my brain until I wrote it down and put it to music. June Bug had a rough time and she shared it all with me. I guess there was something on my mind when I had this dream, subconsciously thinking about the financial problems we are all trying to stave off or deal with.

So, please click on the music button here and download The Ballad of June Bug Lee for free and let me know what you think!

Looking forward to hearing from ya'll!
Lauren

My Mom is here in L.A. with me for a caouple fo weeks and we have been having great fun hanging out. We went to the Bonnie Hunt Show taping yesterday (Mom likes to go to TV Show Tapings!) and it was really fun. I hope her show is a success. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 6, 2008

Los Angeles, CA: L.A.’s own, Lauren Adams, continues her new album
tour across the U.S. deep into the “Secret Heart” of Texas. A vital
part of the regional music scene, Adams independently released her
latest CD, “Secret Heart” to Triple A, Roots and Americana radio
formats, and is currently on tour. Following up her special appearance at
The Mint, Lauren is set to perform select CA gigs before she heads
south. Fittingly, Lauren’s family roots run through Texas and her
affection for the Lone Star state peeks through on the “Same Moon” track
from her new CD.

Adams’ fusion of rock, folk, country and blues has been gaining
critical acclaim across the country: KNBA (AK), KCSN (CA), WIKX (FL), KFAN
(TX), KCAW (AK), KSYM (TX), Public Radio East (NC), and Radio Crystal
Blue (internet show). Laurie Joulie of Take Country Back magazine
writes, “Superb, intelligent, thought provoking songs. Real songs for real
people . . . ‘Secret Heart’ not only begs to be heard, it deserves
it!” The title track for “Secret Heart” also received Honorable
Mention at the 2007 International Songwriting Competition.

As host/producer of the long running Americana Music Circle (at
Kulak’s Woodshed), Lauren has shared the stage with some of the greatest
talent from every corner of the globe. In addition to this, Adams is
passionately involved in raising money for local charitable organizations.
She just played Grassroots Acoustica 10: Friends of the L.A. River
benefit at Lulu’s Beehive in Sherman Oaks, CA, and also at
Hallenbeck’s General Store, North Hollywood, CA, to benefit Hep C Aware
(Hepatitis C awareness group).

Lauren kicked off her tour in Anchorage, AK, and has been playing
special shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. After her run through
Texas, Adams will hit various venues across the U.S., including her native
FL stomping grounds. Despite the challenges that indie artists have to

audiences. Her “Secret Heart” tour is one secret you’ll want to be

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 4, 2008

AWARD WINNING ARTIST, LAUREN ADAMS, INDEPENDENTLY RELEASES NEW AMERICANA/ROOTS ROCK CD “SECRET HEART”

Los Angeles, CA: Award winning artist, Lauren Adams, independently releases her new Americana/Roots Rock CD, “Secret Heart”. On L.A.’s indie music scene, Lauren Adams has developed a reputation for giving her heart and soul to her writing: a fusion of rock, folk, country, and blues. Her sound is undeniably unique, but others have dubbed Lauren as “Lucinda Williams meets The Eagles”.

Lauren’s latest album, “Secret Heart”, is her third, and is already garnering attention in the music industry. The title track “Secret Heart” just received Honorable Mention at the 2007 International Songwriting Competition.

Laurie Joulie of Take Country Back magazine wrote, “Superb, intelligent, thought-provoking songs. Real songs for real people wrapped in melodies that promise to capture, inspire and pull the listener in again and again. Songwriters of Lauren Adams’ level are few and far between. ‘Secret Heart’ not only begs to be heard, it deserves it!”

With the stellar writing and musicianship on the CD, it’s no secret as to why. Produced by guitar veteran Nicholas Newell Kirgo, the album is a virtual who’s who of the L.A. music scene. Kirgo and Adams provide extraordinary guitar work along with the likes of David Sutton (Lucinda Williams, Tracy Chapman) laying down bass, Gary Mallaber (Steve Miller Band, Eddie Money, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen), Lynn “Skins” Coulter manning the drums, John “JT” Thomas (Bruce Hornsby) rounding things out on keyboards, and Jessie Valenzuela (Gin Blossoms) on harmonica.

As host/producer of the long running Americana Music Circle (at Kulak’s Woodshed), Lauren has shared the stage with some of the greatest talent from every corner of the globe. Her previous work, “Thirsty” was featured in the film, Peaceful Warrior (Lion’s Gate) starring Nick Nolte. Adams is also actively involved in raising money for various local charitable organizations, including Hep C Aware (Hepatitis C awareness group).

Her 2008 U.S. & European tours are scheduled to coincide with the official release of “Secret Heart”. Lauren kicks off her world tour in Anchorage, Alaska at the end of February. Full tour dates and venues will be posted on her website.

Lauren Adams’ CD, “Secret Heart” is available for purchase at CD Baby, iTunes, Yahoo Music, Best Buy, Rhapsody, MSN Music, DigStation, and select regional music stores.

CALIFORNIA AMERICANA/ROOTS ROCK SINGER-SONGWRITER, LAUREN ADAMS TO HOLD CD PRE-RELEASE PARTY FOR “SECRET HEART” AT MOLLY MALONE’S AND WILL PLAY ON KCSN-FM RADIO IN OCTOBER

The no cover event will be on October 13, 2007 at Molly Malone’s Pub in Los Angeles, running from 7:30-9:00PM PST. Lauren has been a vital part of the L.A. music scene, currently produces and hosts the monthly show, The Americana Music Circle, held at Kulak’s Woodshed in Los Angeles, CA and chose to release her latest album, “Secret Heart” in her hometown before it will be distributed worldwide. She chose to hold this special party in honor of the loyal fans who pre-ordered “Secret Heart” to help finance production and manufacturing costs for the CD. Adams has found the generosity and unwavering support of her fans staggering, and wants to express her heartfelt gratitude at this celebration. Come out for this talent packed show!

“Secret Heart” is already garnering much attention from the music industry. With the stellar musicianship on the CD, it's no secret as to why. “You'll find her exploring the well-worn American inland where folk, blues and gospel predominate . . . a husky voice admits to disappointment, but tough guitar strokes and bright piano convey the strength to survive.” -Sean Piccoli, Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel

Lauren Adams just received two honorable mentions at this year’s International Songwriting Competition for both “Thirsty” and “Secret Heart”. “Thirsty” was also recently featured in the Lion's Gate movie, Peaceful Warrior, starring Nick Nolte. The "Secret Heart" track was written exclusively for an improvised film in the works, The Canvas. Adams is actively involved in raising money for local charitable organizations including, Children of the Night (rescues runaway teens in Hollywood) and Hep C Aware (Hepatitis C awareness group), and benefits for fellow musicians in need of health care just to name a few.

On October 6th, tune in at 8:00AM PST to hear Lauren on KCSN-88.5FM in L.A. during Larry Wine’s “Tied to the Tracks” radio show. The show will also stream live on their website at: www.kcsn.org
