I am writing today to give you all a new song! Yep. About six months ago I had a dream. The really good ones seem to stick in my mind and this one would not go away until I wrote it down. In this dream was a woman named June Bug Lee and she really let me in on her deepest thoughts and fears and then we watched them come true together. This has never happened to me...this type of dream/song and because of that, I want to share it with all of you. We recorded this mostly at Nick Kirgo’s studio here in L.A. and it is blessed with the beautiful playing of - Mark “Pocket” Goldberg on Bass, Debra Dobkin on percussion, Nick Kirgo on Electric Guitars/Banjo/Dobro and production.

The Ballad of June Bug Lee Lauren Adams MSBLOU MUSIC BMI -2009

She sits on the bench and watches the sun go down When it gets real late, time to wander around. She had a life once that was pure and clean Now it’s all over for June Bug Lee.

There’s no one there to help her, no one gives a damn. For the chance to start over she’d give her right hand Down at the courthouse, they just won’t see. So, now it’s all over for June Bug Lee.

One day we had it all, in one day it went away They gave us a check so we bought that SUV He took off as soon as things got bad Dreams disappeared into the ether.

She fights the bank, she fights the law, and she hunkers down She don’t wanna let them run her out of her own house She never asked for help, she knows nothing is free And now it’s all over for June Bug Lee.

She don’t answer but it rings all day.. She tried everything to keep the wolves at bay There’s no one to rely on, with a mortgage to pay She wants to disappear into the ether.

With the little boy and girl she can’t just walk away She’d do any job, just for the pay She remembers what they told her she could be But now that’s all over for Ms. June Bug Lee. Now it’s over Ms. June Bug Lee.

Packs up the car for a midnight ride Let’s loose the cat and shuts out the light. This is not the way she wanted it to be Kids get in the car in their jammies.

It’s all over for June Bug Lee Can’t pay the bills so she must flee It’s all over for June Bug Lee They told us we could have it if we want it that badly. It’s all over for Ms. June Bug Lee.

We’ll find a parking space and then we’ll see.. June Bug Lee.
